Pain and Symptom Management
Chronic Pain is an expected part of critical or life-limiting illness. The most we can do for our patients is to provide them with encouragement and comfort while administering pain and symptom management interventions.
These can include:
- Pain Medication Administration
- Massage Therapy
- Catheter Management
- Ostomy Care
- Incontinence Care
- Compression Wear (as directed by the physician or if applicable to the patient’s conditions)
These interventions may need to be provided by a Registered Nurse or by a Nursing Assistant under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
